After having some time to mull over the movie, these are my thoughts:
The actress that played Susie did an excellent job, I really liked her in the role. The movie as a whole was not bad, they did not completely butcher the book. However there are a few things I'm disappointed in;
- The lack of screen time that Ray and Ruth's friendship received. I felt she was an integral part in her search to find out what happened to Susie.
- Lack of screen time for Buckley. Again, there were quite a few things that happened in the book that I felt should have been given some time to in the movie, as well as Lindsay's boyfriend's relationship with him.
They really did not do a great job of showing just how each individual in the family dealt with the loss and how it torn them apart. So when her mom up and leaves, it seemed a bit 'huh?' to me. They also left out her affair.
Hah after all that it sounds like I did not enjoy the movie. I did, but I think I enjoyed it more bc of reading the book first and knowing the 'behind the scenes' stuff to help me understand things better.
What did you think of the movie?
ReplyDeleteI loved the book - but I'm scared the movie won't be as good.
would love your review...as usual, i found the book waaaay better.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to know how the movie was too. I found the book a bit boring, actually!
